My semi realistic pencil, pen and charcoal drawings of people and animals have made their home on the walls of many homes across Europe.

Hi there! Welcome, my name is Ruth, and I'm a British artist living in Germany. What makes me feel alive at the moment is capturing the beauty of the dramatic and moody through pencil, pen, and charcoal drawings. I intend to create pieces that evoke emotion and invite viewers into a world filled with shadow, as well as light. Drawing has always been a refuge for me, as a way to calm the mind and get lost in the details. I’m particularly drawn to headshots of people and animals, as I love capturing the expressions and emotions that make each subject unique. There’s something incredibly powerful about a single gaze or a subtle smile that tells a story all on its own. Through my art, I aim to celebrate the beauty and character of both human and animal subjects, inviting viewers to connect with their personalities. I am also a wedding/family photographer and my experiences through this work influence my art, allowing me to bring a unique perspective. Each piece I create reflects my love for storytelling and quiet observation.
Occasionally my beautiful home of Spalt inspires me to create some colourful pieces of the old houses with fantastical skies.. just for fun 😉
